Biography - Ronnie Brasfield

Founder of Greater life Counseling Center, Ronnie is a nationally certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia and received his bachelor’s degree in 1974. After working for 30 years, both corporately and privately in construction and agriculture, Ronnie left his livelihood to pursue a master’s degree in counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, where he finished his studies in 2006. Since graduation, he has gained work experience in individual, family, and group therapy at Alpha Care of Lawrenceville and Manna Counseling Center in Duluth, before starting his own practice in October of 2009.

Today, Ronnie’s life calling is to work with people from a family perspective, concerning their life issues. He works with individuals, couples, and families seeking to bring restorations, harmony, and change through integrated biblical and psychological principles.

Biography - Shelly Cordsen

Shelly Cordsen, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia and hold a Master's degree from Western Seminary in Seattle, Washington (now Mars Hill Graduate School). She has worked in the counseling field since 2002, providing counseling services in both a private practice setting and in community mental health. Shelly is a Christ centered counselor that firmly believes in our need for God. She enjoys leading therapy groups on topics of spirituality, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and eating disorders. Shelly also has experience speaking at youth retreats and to women’s groups. Prior to working as a counselor, she worked in youth ministry for 10 years in both church and para-church ministry.

Shelly is married and has three wonderful children. She is the founder of SproutCounseling.

Biography - Brianna Owen

Brianna Owen received a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Atlanta. She has worked in community mental health providing in home counseling and supervision to field clinicians as well as worked in private practice. Her clinical specialties include adolescent and adult counseling, family counseling, eating disorder treatment, treatment for trauma and attachment disorders, and clinical supervision. She has a great deal of experience working with adolescents and adults who have experienced various forms of abuse, neglect, out of home placement, and other trauma.

Brianna is also a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor- CPCS-and can provide supervision for those seeking LPC licensure in Georgia.

Brianna provides Christian counseling and feels inspired to work with those feeling all types of hurt and pain to help them feel more confident and equipped to handle the challenges of this world while working to renew their faith in God. She strives to help people feel driven by their faith and acceptance of grace rather than being driven by feelings of condemnation and shame.

Biography - Tanya Thomas

Tanya Thomas received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University. Previously, she attended Covenant College and received her undergraduate degree in Information and Computer Sciences. Her internship experience provided therapy around substance abuse issues and anger management to court-ordered and homeless populations. She is currently pursuing training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International.

Tanya finds working with women who struggle with their mood before, during and after pregnancy a rewarding experience. She brings creative elements such as art into the therapy room allowing for greater expression of the inner experience. She is passionate about helping teenagers and adults work through challenging situations such as depression, anxiety, abuse, disabilities or family issues.

Tanya enjoys participating in the prayer quilt ministry at her church. While faith is important to Tanya, she welcomes clients of any spiritual commitment to work towards better mental health.
